Black and White

There is something about black and white photos that just pull on your heart strings. I've always loved black and white photos because they draw so much more emotion from them I feel like. They pull at you and make you think about what was being said and what was being thought. They tell you a story, yet leave you wanting to know more about what is happening.

If I have the privilege of shooting a session for you, it is very likely that you will get some black and white images. Why? Let me explain to you a few reasons why I adore black and white images:

1. Black and white photos simplify things. It cuts out all the distractions and zooms you into the subject. That could be a person smiling, laughing, crying, or just simply being. Or it could be a simple object that is given emotion with black and white.

2. Black and white photos are simply timeless. It doesn't matter what the subject is, what the colors were in the photo, etc. Black and white photos are classic and will still evoke a feeling 100 years from now (so even if your wedding colors go out of style - or were never in style - you won't be able to tell in black and white!).

3. Lastly, like I said above, black and white pictures tell a story. They draw you into the actual event and make you think about what was happening at the time of the 'snap.' You think about the story behind the object. Black and white almost adds personality or character to an object. You imagine what the person is like and what they are feeling. You get to see the emotion in the eyes and face.

Let me know what you think about black and white photos and if you like or dislike them!
